Slow Stitched Coasters Kit in Linen
Hand-sewn linen coasters kit — a slow stitching project for beginners, no sewing machine needed.
Introducing our Slow Stitched Coasters Kit — a beautiful hand-sewing project developed in partnership with talented textile artist Rebekah Johnston, whose quilted textiles explore themes of emotional wellbeing.
Suitable for adults with no prior sewing experience, this project is designed to be sewn entirely by hand — no sewing machine needed. The process of making a set of four linen coasters is intended to be calm, soothing and meditative. A wonderful gift for yourself or someone you love.
Choose from a natural or blue colour theme. Everything you need arrives in a sturdy, reusable cardboard carton: beautiful linen, two contrasting cottons, a Milliner’s needle, and backing fabrics. Teaching is via an instructional video where you can sew along at your own pace, stopping and starting as often as you like.
Rebekah guides you gently through:
- Constructing a quilt sandwich
- Approaches to composition
- Raw edge appliqué
- Binding with the back of the fabric
- Decorative stitch techniques
Each kit contains:
- 35cm x 35cm linen backing fabric
- 30cm x 30cm linen top fabric
- 30cm x 30cm cotton wadding
- Scrap fabrics for appliqué shapes
- Perle cotton in grey and cream
- Milliner’s needle
You will also need pins, scissors (or a rotary cutter and mat), and something to mark fabric with — tailor’s chalk, a pencil, or a fabric pen.
This isn’t a project with a time limit. Pick it up whenever it fits the rhythm of your life. Use your finished coasters at home or frame them as a piece of textile art.
