I have recently started watching Marie Kondo! As someone who has always been slightly addicted to stuff, in particular fabric and related haberdashery, and having spent many previous years teaching, I have managed to collect rather a grand selection of 'useful' things which I thought would one day come in handy.
Do you remember soap boxes - those plastic things that you pulled out when you went on holiday or spent a weekend away visiting friends? They seemed to disappear with the massive influx of hand and body wash and soon became a retro thing of the past!
In an effort to become a zero waste business, we have put out heads, sewing machines and scissors together and developed this wonderful new range of reusable ECO friendly products for the home. Designed with our earth in mind and using a combination of sustainable, soft bamboo and pure linen, we have curated a collection of practical, reusable products for the home, perfect for everyday use.
I was recently asked to talk about what it meant to be a woman in business. This got me really thinking about what I do and why I do it. I realise my route to becoming a business woman may not be a traditional one, but it has been a really interesting journey and one which I continue to enjoy every minute of.
eptember was a busy month for us here at Helen Round. Two new makers joined our lovely team and are now working with us in the studio. They have started an apprenticeship programme where they will gradually learn all the necessary skills to pattern cut, sew and finish all of the products we sell both in the shop, online and with our stockists.
I recently visited the house of Ethnobotanist and plants woman, Michelle Griffiths, who over the next few weeks and months will be walking the pathways and parks of Cornwall foraging for flower heads, leaves, pine cones and seed pods to create the most wonderful festive wreaths.

Welcome to the Honey Bee Collection - designing a new collection is one of those jobs which initially fills me with terror! I have a sketch book full of ideas, but even that is not enough when faced with the task of coming up with something new.
I am a museum lover! So much so that when my children were little, they threatened never to come on holiday with me again if we had to go to Museums and Art Galleries....of course, they are older now and thank me for their cultural education... and love to visit both!! I can't wait until the day when they start taking their children to museums!!
